The Blue Earth Fire Department was founded in 1891. We are a volunteer/paid on call fire department, which provides fire suppression and rescue services to the community of Blue Earth, Minnesota (pop. 3353) and the surrounding townships of Blue Earth, Jo Daviess, Pilot Grove, Prescott, and Verona. We also provide mutual aid to surrounding communities as needed.
Blue Earth is located at the junction of Interstate 90 and U.S. Hwy. 169, in south central Minnesota. Our primary protection area consists of approximately 120 square miles, with an average of 100 calls per year. We also provide Automatic Mutual Aid for one of our neighboring communities for day time calls, covering an additional area of approximately 105 square miles.
Our department consists of up to 30 members who proudly serve and protect our area.
Our fire station which was built in 2006, is located at 120 S Walnut Street, in Blue Earth Minnesota.
When I'm called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age
Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife
